Sensory smart strategies for SNA’s and SET’S

“A positive experience” We spent nearly two years working with Áine. The NDT Programme sounded easy but it was difficult at times to keep going even if only for five minutes per day. This is a programme for parents who are very determined and focused. The results made the effort worthwhile although we regularly needed the encouragement and support we go from Áine. We struggled initially but when my child initiated hugging for the first time, I knew we were on the right path. He had never wanted to touch or hug and that had broken my heart. After a few weeks our exercises became as normal to us as brushing teeth before bed.

“I can’t wait until next summer!” My lad doesn't go to anything without a lot of protesting but he ran out to his summer camp full of enthusiasm every day. He loved the different themes everyday and he was delighted that there was no winning or losing in activities. The camp was very professionally run and he loved the buddies in the red t-shirts. His ability to skip and to crawl improved and he loved showing us his new skills. He began to play a lot of his new games in the garden. With all the sensory- motor activities, we collected a very happy chilled boy every day.

Our daughter let go of a lot of fears and of sensory sensitivities. Her language improved as did her confidence speaking out in class. She became more organised and suddenly enjoyed writing and drawing which she previously had hated. She stopped over-reacting to her brother and to her friends and relationships all round improved. She is now more together in herself and a lot happier .... as are we.

“Everything we wanted and more.” ..We were a long time looking for answers and constructive support. We go this through Developmental Foundations For Learning. We suddenly felt that somebody understood and could actually offer us positive support. We felt suddenly empowered. Progress was slow but then so is development. But progress is progress and we are delighted with our son's improved concentration and attention. We are happy that we are not getting as many letter from school about fighting in the yard. Our programme is ongoing..

“Stellar, professional service.” The professionalism of the staff at camp was wonderful. They communicated with us every day. Every evening we recieved an email about the following day which allowed us to prepare our child and get excited together.

‘‘Lots of tools in the toolbox’’ I wa already familiar with movement programmes as my sister had done similar work with her son. I knew I couldn't practically do a movement programme because I work full-time and have younger children. That made me feel guilty. So I was delighted to discover Johansen IAS. I left the CD player and headphones beside his bed and he put them on every night before going to sleep. By the third CD I could list the improvements. We are still on CD's and have found this a very easy and family-friendly way to help our child.
